The Blind Pig: http://www.blindpigmusic.com/ This sounds like a great party for my 19 year old daughter because it is 18+ and doors open at 9:30.
Comedy, which may be in order to forget 2008: http://www.aacomedy.com/Laughter, they say is the best medicine.
One huge event NOT happening this year is the Ypsilanti Dry New Years Eve. Sorry folks, guess you have to drink in the new year to forget about the old one on December 31.
All the schools are closed and you can thank Mother Earth for this special day! The snow finally started about 4:00 and now there is even sleet on top of a bit of new snow. I haven’t ventured out, but it looks beautiful and I’m lucky I can work from home.
If you are driving, be careful but at least you have many fewer people driving around!
Kids and teachers: E N J O Y!! The winter break started one day early. Yippee!
Myra Klarman’s website has photos of the Gallery Project and a wonderful fundraiser is described by Myra in beautiful photography. I hope you visit Myra’s site to peak your interest and visit The Gallery which is located at 215 South Fourth Ave in Ann Arbor, Michigan. This is a creative fundraiser for The Gallery in which you get to take your photos while visiting.
The holiday fundraiser runs from December 10 to January 11 details are available at the Gallery Project.
This story is also covered in one of my favorite Ann Arbor websites: The Ann Arbor Chronicle. Check out the links provided for additional information.
Mark your calendar if you like classes at the YMCA. This is the most crowded season for classes and you must be parked in front of your computer at 6:00 AM on December 17 for the January to February session. Coffee in hand, I’ll be at my computer trying to make sure I get my Friday studio cycling class with Dawn.
Mark your calendar and sign up right away, some of these classes fill quickly in the winter months.
Friday, December 12th, 7:30 at Nickel’s Arcade is the location to join the cool, totally free holiday-themed parade. Join the fun and bring a music player of your choice: MP3 or boombox. The crowd will take to the streets to enjoy the lights, music and each other.
Here is a bit of history about Unsilent Night:
It started in New York in 1992 by artist Phil Kline and it was gathering in which everyone met and walked in peaceful music. The portables started playing each one and the whole parade takes to the street for a short march around town. The sound was really amazing and changes as the group moves along, and even sounds different within positions in the group itself.
I’m hoping for snow myself for the event and hope to see you there.
