I am a2karen at Twitter.com and I would be honored if you follow me at Twitter.com. There are lots of Ann Arborites who twitter and you would be in good company.
The best thing I know about twitter is that it is “on the street what is happening.” I mean if someone has an iPhone and post a photo it is probably real and the story is too. I highly recommend it.
The most up to date information can be found on the twitter network and if you decide to use it or try it, feel free to ask questions. It can be a bit strange only speaking in 140 characters (that is all that’s allowed on twitter.) Anyway, you look for people you know load info about yourself and then follow others.
I hope today to hear that Gustav is not as bad as they thought and the refugees can get back home soon! I will be checking twitter more than the news.

Flickr account name is a2karen.
I know many people have tried to use less gas…my daughter would suggest this method. This is the street right behind my home and for those who don’t know the area, I am only 3 miles to the west of Ann Arbor. (This is Scio Township.)
She is not one of these riders, just another horse crazy person.
What about you?
Are you driving for a vacation get-away for the weekend or staying close to home?

After much adooo, we have upgraded to WP 2.6.1…
While they have a famous 5-minute installation, setting up WordPress for the first time is simple. Upgrading isn’t always as easy. They’ve created a handy guide to see you through the installation process. If you’re upgrading your existing installation, we’ve got a guide for that, too. And should you run into any trouble along the way, our support forums are a great resource, where seasoned WordPress experts volunteer their time to help you get the most out of your blog.

My son is 15 years old and playing tennis with Pioneer High School. The coach is the well known and award winning “Brick” whose real name is Tom Pullen. (He is Mr Coach of the Year to me.) I would love to know why he is called Brick.
This year is interesting in that the first varsity invitational is this Saturday and we don’t know the lineup as yet. Hummm, I am not going to say too much (just in case other teams read treetowntalk…yea, right Karen), except this year there are many players who have to give it all they have and then some more, to live up to the multi year State winning championship level, which they are accustom to.
Anyway registration for Pioneer is this week. Kids get their schedules, lockers, teachers and get to walk the halls so they aren’t lost the first day of school.
The other schools are also beginning as well. I heard wonderful things about Skyline (or would “the new high school” be a better name still?) from the choir and band group that performed and got a standing ovation from the crowd at Interlocken. They have fan equestrian team, a freshman soccer, football, women’s field hockey. It is fabulous that everything is coming together for the Skyline. Good luck to all the athletes and congrats to all the excited new teachers for the program.
Things are always pretty great at Huron. They will probably have an awesome football team…and tennis and soccer as well. I’ll have to get more scoop from that side of town from kids that go there.
Practices are taking a ton of time if you have a high schooler; enjoy your time off if your kids are younger. Oh maybe those last precious days at the pool.
Ice cream at Washtenaw Dairy anyone?

It’s that time of year; lots of college students are going to be arriving here in Ann Arbor and this fair city will be shared with many others. Welcome back students…as all the supermarkets splash all over their stores.
I am sending my own college student away. It isn’t easy, but it is the natural progression in life. I have to admit I wish she had choosen the UM like so many of her friends. But no, she wanted to move away and have more independence. Telling her she could have lived on campus away from us just wasn’t enough. Oh well.
We packed up my little wagon and delivered her to another school here in Michigan and I will say, there are many other choices besides my favorite local choice. This choice was her’s, as it should be. We are not the type of family that goes to the store and buys out the shop. It’s not our style. My 19 year old and I really don’t like shopping and even going to college hasn’t changed that (yes, we are both females…). So anyway, we got a few things but just like last year, sent her to school and decided to figure out what else she wanted later. Okay so the second trip to the school has already produced a futon for her room (lucky kid, that she is a single in a dorm and has the room for a futon).

So this is my 19 year old...just starting her year as a Resident Advisor. We wish her a ton of fun, will miss her terribly and wait for the stories to come home. We might be waiting for a while …when you arrive before the rest of campus the WiFi isn’t correctly working as yet. Bummer for us and for her.
