Democrats in Washtenaw County - Thank you!

Published by Karen Moorhead under Chelsea, Dexter, Michigan

To every single volunteer, to ever single voter, we thank you for making history November 4, 2008.

I am honored to be part of this and happy to share photos of hard working volunteers and precinct workers who kept the polls working well throughout our Washtenaw county.  There were many people who worked long hours and we thank you all.

I would like to give a huge shout out to Maureen from Scio township Democratic office.  It was a pleasure to meet and work with you.

To our new Congressman Mark Schauer, we wish you best and I’m sure you will represent us well!  We look forward to your hard work in Washington, D.C.

Our best hopes for you, President-elect Barack Obama.

Thank you to a remarkable day made in history and for every one who voted or helped: thank you!

Mark Schauer @ Dexter Foggy Bottom Coffee House

Published by Karen Moorhead under Dexter, Michigan

Mark Schauer came to Dexter last evening to speak with the folks who are interested in his run for congress in Michigan.  People were asking about the financial bailout in Washington and the future of Michigan.  Mark was willing to listen the to audience and our concerns and introduced himself to the Scio Township area.

He supports issues which are vital to Michigan like clean and renewable energy and development and the tech boom in the greater Ann Arbor area.

Early childhood education is critical as well as a reform of No Child Left Behind.  He wants to work on the health care crisis in Washington and was awarded the backing of Joe Swartz today.

His website has additional information:

http://markschauer.com/

There are many additional points which are part of his platform but we were not able to get to them with the financial discussions we had.  I recommend you check out his website and feel free to contact him if you have questions or concerns.  Please vote for Mark Schauer in November!

The additional note should be made about the lovely coffee shop we met Mark.  Foggy Bottom is right in Dexter and they have a great place to attend a community event like this.  There is also a list of current performers as well at Foggy Bottom, so if you want to check out a very comfortable coffee house with fast wifi I would recommend it!

Dexter-Ann Arbor Road ready for cyclists to head safely down the road.

Dexter-Ann Arbor Road ready for cyclists to head safely down the road.

The calendar now agrees with all of us that it is the first day of fall and it is just beautiful! If you want to head to Dexter on your bike the Dexter Ann Arbor Road is looking just fine near Dexter Middle School.  This photo is the new road with a well marked bike path.

The Dexter Cider Mill is currently open and has cider, Michigan apples, donuts and other delicious treats for you to enjoy.

Hope to see you out on the road and the word on Huron River Drive is that near Ann Arbor looks great with the new pavement, but near Dexter the Eastbound route is still very torn up and causes problems if you hit one of those huge potholes.

How do you conserve gas?

I know many people have tried to use less gas…my daughter would suggest this method. This is the street right behind my home and for those who don’t know the area, I am only 3 miles to the west of Ann Arbor. (This is Scio Township.)

She is not one of these riders, just another horse crazy person.

What about you?

Are you driving for a vacation get-away for the weekend or staying close to home?

The Fun Never Stops in this Area: Dexter Daze August 8th & 9th

This weekend the fun outdoor event is located to the west of Ann Arbor, Michigan and you can take a nice bike ride via Dexter-Ann Arbor Road and arrive in Dexter in about 30 minutes from the west side of A2.  This fun is Dexter Daze and there are booths, music, dancing and tons of fun to be had.

The booths are open 9:00 a.m. until 8 p.m.  I’m sure with the election year can meet candidates if you have a question or two.

If your family was out of town for the 4th of July parade there is an opportunity to enjoy Dexter Parade on Saturday so I hope you can make it.
